How TDEE is calculated

Your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) is calculated in two steps. First, your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is estimated using the Mifflin-St Jeor equation — the most accurate formula for most people. BMR represents the calories your body burns at complete rest. Then BMR is multiplied by an activity factor (1.2–1.9) based on your exercise level to produce your TDEE. Your goal adjustment is then applied on top of that.
